Fabio Di Bartolomei

Born in Udine, in 1979 he founded his design agency, DI BARTOLOMEI DESIGN AGENCY, headquartered in the same city. He subsequently established international collaborations that led to the opening of affiliated offices in New York and Brendale, Brisbane, Queensland (Australia).

His work spans Industrial & Strategic Design, Interior Design, Corporate Image, Architecture and Exhibition Stand Design. Exhibitions dedicated to his career have been held in Italy and abroad, while a number of his projects have been selected and exhibited by institutions including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York (USA). In 2004, his work was also featured in the prestigious The Museum of Modern Art Design Encyclopedia, published by MoMA in New York.

Director of the Italian Design School and formerly a design lecturer at several universities and institutions, including ISIA Roma Design, Udine, Trieste, the Adriatic Nautical Academy in Trieste and the Academy of F.A. in Verona, throughout his career he has developed more than 200 products that have gone into production. These range from seating, furniture, accessories and lighting to objects, jewellery, pens and electronic devices, as well as boats and machinery.

In the nautical sector, he notably designed the new Vaporetti for the city of Venice, characterised by an innovative formal language and now in service on the city’s waterways.

His projects, developed for leading companies across a wide range of industries, have received numerous awards and recognitions. Most recently, the A-BOOK bookcase, designed for Riva1920, received an international Archiproducts award.

Research into materials has always played a central role in his design process. In the publishing field, he also contributes design columns to several well-known magazines.

His approach combines research, vision and culture, transforming ideas into contemporary solutions.
